1/26/15 Tennessee Senator Proposes Opt-out Provision for State's WC System – Late last week, Senator Mark Green formalized his efforts to allow Tennessee employers to opt out of the state's workers' compensation system and into an alternative. Senator Green, the 1st Vice Chairman of the Senate Commerce and Labor Committee, confirmed what has long been suspected regarding an opt-out provision when he announced his three major proposals to promote job growth for Tennessee. 12/16/2013 — The Oklahoma Supreme Court finds new workers' compensation law constitutional. The court's decision to uphold the law came just four business days after hearing oral arguments en banc. See court records here.
11/26/2013 — The Oklahoma Supreme Court today has assumed original jurisdiction in the lawsuit that challenges the constitutionality of the state's new workers' compensation law. The court is set to hear oral arguments en banc at 9am, Tuesday, December 10th. The lawsuit was filed by Oklahoma City attorney John McMurry on behalf of Harry Coates (Republican Senator from Seminole), Emily Virgin (Democrat Representative from Norman) and Rick Beams (president of the Professional Firefighters of Oklahoma).
